My Experience experimenting with Blue Lotus Extract: Ancient Aphrodisiac and Modern Sleep Aid

My Experience experimenting with Blue Lotus Extract: Ancient Aphrodisiac and Modern Sleep Aid

Exploring psychedelics and their impact on sexual wellness

So, you all know my undying passion for venturing into the depths of natural plant medicines and psychedelics. My latest deep dive? The Blue Lotus extract! This mystery flower was introduced to me by the staff of my new business partners for Moon and Myco. Yep, that ancient Egyptian magic that was once revered as a symbol of divinity. With my never-ending quest to find natural aphrodisiacs (hello, sexual wellness expert here!), I had to give it a whirl. I just needed to find a willing participant...which shouldn't be too hard. (no pun intended).

One of our chemists had been begging everyone around the office for weeks to try it. I eagerly volunteered and he showed me the black sticky tar looking substance as he meticulously packed it into capsules before carefully weighing them on the scale. I am certainly always up for a challenge and for trying new compounds, but this looked a bit intimidating. Coming from the girl who gets higher than a kite off of a mere 2 MG of THC, this mystery “arousal” extract seemed like an experiment I really didn’t want to tackle solo.

Again, our chemist asks if anyone had been brave enough to try it…and no one had. The look of disappointment on his face gave me a little chuckle, I couldn’t let the team down, after all, I’ve simply been toting around these three, mysterious capsules in my purse for weeks, just waiting for the right opportunity to arise. I ensure our chemist that I won’t let him down and promise him a full report by the end of the week.

What a fantastic stroke of luck that I had just been invited over for martinis by a very close friend whom I hadn't seen in weeks. This special friend, we will call "MC", had been a willing participant in trying other home-run products developed by our sister company Glazed before. He and I had tried an amanita pre-roll that had a touch of Blue Lotus flower in it before, so neither of us were 100% new to this compound...but potent extracts can be a whole new ball game, often times containing up to 50X potency than the raw plant.

After I leave the office, I text MC and take him up on his invitation for drinks and inform him I just need some help with "something for work", not alluding to the nature of the help, because it's always better to ask for forgiveness than permission, am I right?

It's a cool, summer evening, and MC's already shaking up our favorite dirty martinis. I saunter in, waving a small pouch with an excited grin. He rolls his eyes, "What now?" The universe really has a way of pairing the explorers with the skeptics, huh? But when has that ever stopped us?

I give him the lowdown: "It's Blue Lotus extract - used in ancient Egypt as an aphrodisiac." I swear I saw a hint of interest, but he laughed it off. "How do you even find these things?" he chuckled. I assure him, I have to try it for work and that I simply need an adventure buddy. And of course, to make the deal sweeter (and to ease his slight apprehension), I threw in, "It's mild, but promises a strong aphrodisiac effect!" Wink, wink.

We both decided to start with a gram each. The martini glasses clinked, the Blue Lotus was consumed, and we let the evening unfold. The night was electric. I mean, I’ve always been an advocate for body positivity and self-love, but y’all, this was different. It felt like every shred of inhibition melted away, replaced by this profound love and acceptance for my body. And as for MC? Let’s just say the Blue Lotus definitely lived up to its ancient reputation, and I reaped the benefits. Haha

As for a “psychedelic” experience, I wouldn’t say I experienced anything of a truly psychedelic nature. However, I have heard paired with psilocybin or steeped in wine it can truly earth shattering experience, and I certainly want to give those combos a whirl in the not so distant future. #itsforresearch

Feeling adventurous, I went for another gram after about an hour, and rather than rocketing off to an alternate universe, went to sleep. And that’s when the dreams began. They weren't just dreams; they were vivid, lucid experiences, like dipping into an alternate realm, feeling very similar to my previous experiences with muscimol (the psychedelic compound in the amanita mushroom).

Despite everything, when the morning dawned, we both felt so refreshed, like we’d had some of the deepest, most fulfilling sleep in years. Did I feel more connected to my partner? Not really...but I did feel more connected with myself.

Would I recommend the Blue Lotus adventure? Absolutely!  But always remember to do your research, start slow, and ensure you’re in a safe and comfortable environment. Mother Nature really knows her stuff, but it’s on us to approach her gifts responsibly. Now that I know I won’t blast off to another universe off of 2 grams, I think I will take 4 next time and maybe have something a little more exciting to report.

Mush Love, Kim

P.S. Sending love to the chemist at work who introduced me to this mystical elixir. Sometimes, the old ways really are the best! 💫🍸
